WinDataSoft FAQ's

[Q] Why am I getting a "Cannot Connect With DataScribe" error in WinDataSoft?
[A] There are several different reasons why you might see this error message:
  1. A loose cable connection between the DataScribe and the computer
  2. Something else is using the same communications port that the DataScribe is trying to use
  3. The DataScribe's battery is low

[Q] I printed a graph in WinDataSoft and am have trouble reading it. Do you have any suggestions?
[A] There are two things you might try. You might want to print the graph in monochrome with symbols. To select monochrome with symbols or color right-click on the graph and change the Viewing Style. If you prefer color graphs, but the plotted lines are too hard to distinguish, you can change the plot colors. To do this, selected a "displayed" measurement from the Measurements dialog and click the Color button.

[Q] Why does WinDataSoft give me an "Error 02" when I try to Browse Detail or Browse Min/Max?
[A] This means that the program associated with .txt files cannot be located within the current path. Normally in Windows 95/98 "notepad.exe" is associated with .txt files. You will see this error if this associated program has been moved or removed.

[Q] Why do I sometimes get old data files when downloading data from the Transporter?
[A] The latest files stored in the Transporter are always displayed at the bottem of the DataScribe Selection dialog in WinDataSoft. Looking at the selection dialog, you may notice older version of your data files futher up in the list. It is a good idea to delete the files stored in the Transporter after they have been retrieved by WinDataSoft. This not only makes more room in the Transporter, but also reduces the chance of retrieving an old data file.
